EDUCATION PROJECT NG-SE3 IN NICARAGUA

Volunteer Project in Nicaragua

NG-SE3

Description:

This volunteer organisation in Nicaragua provides support and assistance to seven villages suffering from poor conditions around Granada. The goal of the organisation is to improve children’s education in these villages. The organisation in Nicaragua hopes to provide opportunities and resources for the children that they work with, thereby breaking the cycle of poverty. Volunteers will work in the rural schools and assist the teachers, tutor young children, run sports programs, introduce children to computers, and help foster a good learning environment for the children.

Activities:

Volunteers at this organisation will work mostly with the younger children, who go to school in the mornings. During this time the volunteers may help in the kindergarten class, tutor children in the early grades with their reading, writing or mathematics, and teach classes such as arts, craft or sports. In addition, volunteers will have the opportunity to spend time doing fun activities with the children. Examples include running a reading club or a geography club, and play sports with the children. Normally, you work at one single community during the length of your volunteer program. You will work four to five days per week, between 5 and 7 hours per day.
